Who we are and what we do

Events Harrogate is the new Events Bureau for the Harrogate district. Showcasing all of the reasons why Harrogate is the perfect place to host a conference, exhibition, meeting or event.

The Harrogate district has been hosting events to entertain visitors ever since the elite of Britain and Europe first came to ‘take the waters.’ When spa treatments declined, Harrogate was reinvented as a ‘Conference Town.’ With an impressive Convention Centre at the heart of Harrogate town centre, a range of luxury hotels, wide-open spaces set alongside glorious countryside, historic theatres and boutique meeting rooms, it’s easy to see why.

Whether you are looking for something a little different or just want to make this magnificent location the backdrop to an exceptional event, there is something to meet your event needs and more.

Medical

Harrogate district has a proud history of hosting leading medical events. Following the discovery of the first spring in 1571, Harrogate became known as the English Spa and the rich and famous visited from far and wide to ‘take the waters’ in hope of curing a host of medical ailments.

In 1884 Harrogate changed its very constitution to become a borough council, with an appointed Mayor in order to welcome the British Medical Association. Built in 1903 by Frank Matcham, the Royal Hall is a stunning Edwardian theatre and a jewel in Harrogate’s crown. The breath-taking interior inspired by the great ballrooms of Imperial Europe combined with British theatrical elements give this venue the wow factor.

Yorkshire Event Centre

Yorkshire Event Centre is an award-winning event venue located just outside of Harrogate town centre. The excellent location and facilities, led by a dedicated events team, has helped accelerate the Yorkshire Event Centre to having an industry-leading reputation.

Offering 6,270sqm of flexible space across two purpose-built halls with access to the 200 acres of the Great Yorkshire Showground, the Yorkshire Events Centre is the perfect choice for anything from a meeting for 500 delegates to a dinner for 2,000. Both Halls have easy and efficient loading and have vehicular access.

When you hold an event at Yorkshire Event Centre, not only will the passionate and experienced team work with you to ensure it’s a success, but every penny goes to help fund the charitable activities of the Yorkshire Agricultural Society which was formed in 1837 to support food, farming, and the countryside. Pavilions of Harrogate

Offering over 2,300sqm of internal space and 200 acres of external space, Pavilions of Harrogate, located on the Great Yorkshire Showground is the perfect venue for a range of events from small meetings and exclusive private dining to conferences and exhibitions for up to 500 delegates. The 14 rooms available have natural daylight, 10 of which have direct access to lawns, woods, ponds, and fields.

Crowne Plaza Harrogate

Located in the centre of Harrogate, this stylish and modern hotel is within walking distance of the many shops, restaurants, bars and businesses in the town centre.

Positioned next door to the Harrogate Convention Centre, the Crowne Plaza offers a central location just a short walk from the train station, whilst also offering stunning views over the spa town and the Yorkshire Dales. The hotel has an underground car park catering for up to 150 cars.

The hotel boasts six versatile meeting spaces with capacities from two to 320 guests. The largest room is the Harewood. Situated on the ground floor, the Harewood has a bar and leads out onto the Springs Terrace, which is available for private drinks receptions and pre-dinner drinks. The other five meeting rooms are on the first floor close to the Springs Restaurant. All meeting rooms have air conditioning.

The Crowne Plaza has a total of 214 contemporary bedrooms including Club rooms which offer walk-in showers, mini bars, Sky TV and access to the exclusive club lounge. The club lounge offers complimentary tea and coffee all day plus wine and beer with canapés between 5pm - 8pm every day. The hotel has a resident’s gym which is open from 6am - 10pm daily.

Cedar Court Hotel

Sitting on the site of the town’s first hotel, The Cedar Court Hotel Harrogate is a Grade II listed four-star venue which dates back to 1671 and overlooks the famous 200 acre Stray parkland.

The hotel is centrally located, with 100 bedrooms and extensive on-site parking, close to the railway station and only a short drive from the A1. A series of ground-floor interconnecting rooms provide multiple options for meetings which can be subdivided to create space for working lunches, refreshment breaks and dedicated breakout areas.

The property can host 350 delegates for a conference in the Cedar Suite, with a bar and patio area providing options for breakout spaces and refreshments. The stylish Rowan Suite can hold up to 160 people in a natural, airy space with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the Stray. The 90 capacity Queens Suite provides a regal setting for theatre style events or dinners. All meeting and event spaces have high speed Wi-Fi.

The venue also offers a Tipi in the garden, a unique and versatile space, framed by landscaped gardens and historic parkland.

Swinton Estate

The beautiful Swinton Estate, set in 20,000 acres offers a superb countryside location with rolling views of the Yorkshire Dales and a traditional Yorkshire welcome.

The Estate is home to Swinton Park, a venue with a range of event spaces. How Stean Gorge

Based in Nidderdale AONB on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, eight miles north of Pateley Bridge, How Stean Gorge offers a state-of-the art event space. Enclosed with floor to ceiling glass panes, only a sheet of glass separates you from nature and the magnificent gorge, making this one of the most unique conference venues in Yorkshire.

Venture away from the usual conference rooms with a space that is truly inspiring. The glass walls provide an unforgettable view and plenty of light to bring your event to life. With 96sqm of flexible space available, large groups can be easily accommodated and the room set-up can be tailored to your needs.

Although set in a scenic rural location, How Stean Gorge is easy to get to with great transport links available by road and rail with a variety of train stations within an hour’s drive. A minibus is also available for hire.

The newly refurbished 18th century Orangery provides a special and stimulating business or leisure venue. Starling Independent Bar Café Kitchen

A true indie venue and event space in Harrogate town centre, Starling Independent Bar Café Kitchen offers a combination of food, drink and vibes to make any group or event feel right at home.

There are three distinct event spaces in this characterful heritage Harrogate building. The Barn oozes cosy character with solid beams and Juliet balcony doors overlooking the nest. The Beer Hall is the perfect party space, and the nest is a unique outside garden space with a plant wall on one side and 12sqm mural by a local artist on the other.

Day-to-day the bar, café and kitchen delight visitors with a delicious brunch menu and specialist coffee from Yorkshire roaster Dark Woods, whilst by night 16 draft beers and ciders from independent Northern breweries are on offer alongside their legendary posh pizza.

Cold Cotes

Cold Cotes, situated on the edge of Nidderdale provides facilities for meetings and away days within marvellous countryside.

The Barn at Cold Cotes can accommodate corporate events for between 6 and 30 people. The space can be set up in both boardroom and lecture style. There are also a number of seating areas which can be used for breakout sessions or relaxation.

Packages include room hire, use of equipment, refreshments on arrival and throughout the day as well as a buffet lunch. Breakfast meetings for up to 12 people in the exclusive private conference facility are also available from 8am.

On-site accommodation and secure private parking for up to 30 cars or small minibuses is also available.

The Parish Church of St Wilfrid

If you are looking for an event space that is a little different, the Grade I listed building of The Parish Church of St Wilfrid in Harrogate could be the perfect choice.

Available to hire for events and exhibitions, the spectacular surroundings of the church provide a unique backdrop for an event. The main nave area seats up to 300 people auditorium style while the total capacity for the main body of the church is 500.

The large church building has moveable seating for up to 350 people as well as a large stage area of 6m x 5m. Car parking spaces and good access for larger vehicles is available.

ROAD

Located just off the A1 (M), Harrogate district is easy to reach by road. Well signposted routes will take you direct to Harrogate town centre from Junction 45 (Wetherby) or Junction 47 (Knaresborough).

RAIL

Harrogate is linked to all major UK cities via Leeds (34 minutes) and York (33 minutes) including a direct, daily connection to London with LNER (2 hours 43 minutes). Six direct services with LNER between London King’s Cross and Harrogate every day.

AIR

At 12 miles (20 minutes) Harrogate’s closest airport is Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA). British Airways run daily flights between LBA and Heathrow (1 hour), and there are regular flights from many connections worldwide, including Paris (1 hour 30 minutes), Amsterdam (1 hour 10 minutes), Dublin (1 hour).
